The difference is, you write your own article about your dog. You can send up to six pictures, but must be no larger than 100k each, less if you can get it. Write your own article, keep it clean and preferably amusing, and NO SHOW pics. In keeping with the rest of this website, we want perfectly natural. My name is Debbie .I am married to Delme and have two
children Emma who is 23 and Ceri who is 17.I am a nail technician and have
recently opened my own nail salon in our city of Swansea. We are owned by three
bullmastiffs a golden retriever and a cross staff.
I have had dogs all my life but realised I wanted another dog when my daughter
left home and took Pepsi our cross staff with her .Pepsi who was nearly ten
years old at the time missed Emma so much I had to let her go .Frederica our
golden retriever who was also nearly ten years old needed a companion and as
Fred was primarily my husbands dog it was left to me to make a choice as to the
breed we would finally decide on.
I spent many happy hours looking at different breeds and decided on a Saint
Bernard as a first choice and a Bullmastiff as a second choice, the reason being
that St. Bernard’s were supposed to be more laid back and Fred was getting on a
bit and we didn’t want a younger dog dominating her. Late one Sunday afternoon
we visited our local pets at home store to purchase books on both breeds, as we
arrived a middle aged couple were leaving the shop with the biggest most
beautiful St. Bernard we had ever seen. I struck up a conversation with the
couple …they had kept these dogs for twenty years and told us many stories but
what stands out in my mind is why they were at the store that day .Their dog was
being picked up from the vets after being neutered…the reason for the neutering
is that they had, had to return from a caravan holiday early as there was a
female dog in the vicinity of the caravan that was in season the St. Bernard had
mounted his owner and quite badly injured him .He lifted his shirt to show us
his injuries ..The cuts were quite bad and the look on my husbands face was
enough to make us leave the shop with two books both on bullmastiffs!!!! To cut
a long story short five months later after looking at lots of different breeders
and their dogs we bought my ‘Princess’ Nomsi .She is a brindle bullmastiff who
has the most loving temperament of any dog that I have ever had the pleasure to
own .She gave Fred a new lease of life and apart from a few problems .. mainly
chewing, she has turned out to be the perfect companion so much so that I cannot
bear to be apart from her. Eighteen months after getting her the breeder we had
her from asked us to foster a rescue bullmastiff that had been very badly beaten
and locked in a stable with little or no human contact for almost a year. Alfie
arrived at our home a fawn bullmastiff of about two years old; he was at least
four stone under weight, covered in fleas (the biggest our vet had ever seen) he
had open wounds, the results of severe beatings. He was in a very sorry state,
Nervous of everything and everybody. After five months of regular meals and
loads of love, he was ready to be rehomed. We, Nomsi and Fred included could not
bear to be parted from him hence our family grew again. He too has a wonderful
temperament and it has been a pleasure to watch him gain confidence a little at
a time sometimes now we think a little too confident especially with regards to
our newest arrival Bentley otherwise known as ‘ little one’. Bentley is actually
my daughters dog but since breaking up with her, then partner, we have had her
(my daughter)and both her dogs Pepsi and Bentley come home to live with us
.Bentley is a red bullmastiff and is completely different to both our other
bullmastiffs ..Truthfully he is quite hard work...He is very head strong and
tries to be dominating and is exceptionally intelligent though again he has the
gentlest temperament with people but not so good with other male dogs. He has to
be kept active in body and mind all the time...He has boundless energy where as
the other two could happily sleep for twenty hours a day if we let them. Bentley
has done well at obedience class passing his kennel club bronze and working
towards his silver, he takes it all in his stride and makes it looks so easy the
trainer says “he is, his star pupil”. I just wish he would put everything he
learns in class into practise at home not only at class!!! In short we feel
blessed to be owned by this wonderful breed and I can honestly say that I would
have loads more if I was allowed!!!! My neighbours and family all love our dogs
and all of them find it hard to believe just how gentle these giants can be. I
hope the pictures of our babies give you as much pleasure as they give us. Ian…
I also hope that the photograph of Bentley wearing the crown sorts out who is
indeed the handsomest bully re: posting on forum: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Fourth
feature bully is up.....see "Our Visitors ;O).. ..Sorted I think!!! :o)

My name is Mark I am married to Helen with a 13 year old
daughter called Sasha. We all agreed it would be nice to have a dog in the house
and after plenty of research decided on a Bullmastiff as they were one of the
few breeds that met all our criteria. (Good guard, little shedding, little
barking, good with Children and other animals and does not need 3 hour walks
every day) Chunky is our fist Bullmastiff and arrived in February 2003 at 8
weeks old. His name came from Donkey Kong 64, Chunky is a large very strong
Gorilla who is a friend of DK. (You have to be into Nintendo to understand)
Chunky is from the Evenstar kennel. Chunky settled in very quickly and never
cried on a night but did have a few problems getting used to toileting outside.
He also seemed to have ears that went everywhere more like an elephant than a
dog. After putting him in some pretty bunches for a few weeks all was well. He
has grown steadily over the year and now stands at 26.5 inches and weighs 60Kg.
He has passed his kennel Club bronze award for obedience and will take silver
next summer. He is a little boisterous at the moment when he meets new people so
hopefully he will settle down a little when he is 18 months old.
He still likes to suckle soft toys and I could probably had shares by now, he
started with monkeys and is now onto a large soft football which is standing up
well to the punishment.
He has really turned out as all the books said a bullmastiff would which is
great. His biggest problem is he likes to lick plaster so has a habit of
scratching the walls, so I have to be handy with the polyfiller.
I hope you all like his pictures.

Hello Ian,
First, Congratulate for your effort to save the homeless dogs, it is very noble!
And also congratulate for your pages and to keep alive the forum.
Our story:
Last autumn our ten years old Alsatian went to the heaven and left emptiness
after him. After this blue event my father and I started to search next pet, who
is lovable and protect our garden. Then I visit my colleague's friend to see his
kennel, because he was bullmastiff puppies. It was the first touch with Matild
:). She was 5 month old and she has had to leave the kennel , because she and
another 5 old bitch always fight. I thought for a week and I brought her to home
for a present for my parents:) My father was very happy and he remain since :)..
me too Since January Matild raised up and we had a great time together. The
breeder became a friend for me, and we are visiting dogshows together and also
every weeks we go to a walk with Matild and his bullmastiffs. Now, my target to
know everything about this breed and to be a breeder!
And I also send you my logo, and I would be glad if you put your link page. The

I can recall having a dog in our house since I was a small boy, my first memory was of a Cocker Spaniel that my dad brought home with him when he retired from the army in 1963. When he passed away we had our next dog within days, a mongrel from the local dogs home on the Wirral and that's how it went for my mum and dad, when in 1985 I was besotted by a lovely big red dog that I saw in my local park.

One day I got talking to the owner and I learnt that it was a Bullmastiff and that was it .I was so in an awe with this great breed I started to ask the owner more questions and started to read what I could about the Bullmastiff, When my cross Jack Russell passed away in 1986 I decided that there was only one dog that I wanted to own, yes a Bullmastiff. My search led me to my beautiful girl Clio, she was a lovely red brindle who I acquired in 1987 she was so pleasant and would stay by my side and not wander, I actually got to get a photo of her and the dog who I had admired in the park and they became very good friends.
One funny story I can remember about Clio was when I use to work Nights for the Post Office and my brother and I shared a house, I came home from work at 7am and had taken her out for about 30mins, I made sure she was settled and off I went to bed, I woke up at 12.15 and thought its dark out when I heard the DJ on the local radio playing the love songs from his show which I new started at midnight. Yes I had slept for 16 hours and I would only usually sleep for about 5 hours at the most. I could just not believe it, me and my girl (yes, I mean the dog!!!) had been giving it zzzzzzs for hours and she had not done one little thing at all in the house. She must have got off the bed for a drink and then back on, so as soon as I woke she was let out and then fed, when my brother came home from his weekend away he could not believe it and I still can't.

I acquired my second Bullmastiff in 1990 a dog out of CH Jazzy Jaffa and what another great ambassador he was for this mighty breed. A soft gentle giant with the family but not someone to be messed with by any one untoward. We have numerous stories about Winston one being when we went fishing .Winston would just lie there at the bank with Clio while I tried to fish ( never had much luck ) but I did enjoy getting out with my dogs .One day Winston chased a rat, unbeknown to me the rat had bitten him. When I got him home he was not himself, he did not want his tea and was just falling asleep. Guessing something was not right we phoned our local vet who advised us to bring him straight down so there was me and the missus Jan lifting about 12 stone of solid muscle in to the car . He was given a good checking over and a injection and antibiotics and within a few days he had made a full recovery and went on to be involved in more mischief .In all the years we have owned our Bullmastiffs we have never bred a litter or used our boy at stud as we felt that we did not have the vast amount of time required as we were starting our own family and they were our loving pets.
At present myself and Jan and three children aged 12, 8 and
5 own a smashing little Westie
of 16
months, well its my daughters but she is lovely and so is the daughter. We now
feel the time is right to be owned by another Bullmastiff so we have been to a
few shows this year and spoke to a few breeders we are now on the waiting list
of a very good and caring breeder and and hope to have our new boy sometime
next year.
I hope you have enjoyed our story in loving memory of Clio and Winston who will never be forgotten and enjoy with us some of their photos that we have included.
Thank you for taking the time to read OUR STORY and hope to read yours one day on this great site for the love of the Bullmastiff.
